BENDE 2019: “My ambition a quest for solution to my people’s problems not a job search” - Benjamin Kalu

The APC candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, Chief Barr. Benjamin Okezie Kalu has declared that his quest to represent the people of the Constituency is not an effort to get an employment opportunity for himself but a quest for solutions to problems facing his people.

He made this declaration in a popular radio show “Orji Uzor Kalu Speaks” on Flow FM Umuahia. He remarked that he has a job to do and therefore not in politics for employment purpose. “I believe in developing the communities that develop the nation. It’s not about personal interest. I have good businesses. I have good profession. I’m not looking for a job to do. I’m looking for problems to solve for my people. And the problem I’m talking about is what will bring us from the level of under development to a level of development. I know it will not happen in a day. I just want to add my own quota. I want to light my own little candle to make sure that this great name called Bende that has been heard time and time again, that resonates all across Nigeria and world over, that we attach a particular development to this name.

“I have programmes and projects that will make this happen and that’s why in no distant time I’m going to be declaring my manifesto, that will help the people of Bende to understand the intention and why I want to run for House of Representatives” he said.

He stated that Bende sits on a 601sq klm of land, describing it as a huge place that ought to be three local governments. He stated that a large number of people who live there do not have sufficient infrastructure, road network, schools and other things. He vowed that he is poised to provide solutions to these issues by showcasing the strength of Bende through untapped natural resources to develop the Constituency. He also added that he will mechanize agriculture in Bende.

He described as challenge lack of affordable loan facility, lack of improved seedlings, lack of infrastructure including motorable roads for farmers and traders. He emphasised that farming is still done at subsistence level by families as a result of lack of farming machinery, processing facility and other things. He expressed commitment to ensure that Bende benefits from government’s agricultural programs to stimulate large scale farming and ensure that Bende becomes a major exporter of agriculture produce. “Beyond being a lawyer, I’m an exporter of agro products, one of the biggest exporters of agro product in the country currently. So I know what we have and I know the kind of foreign exchange Bende can make from exporting agricultural products. So my duty is to make sure that I stimulate large scale farming and processing, ensuring that Bende becomes a major exporter of agricultural products” he said.

Benjamin Kalu cares for the widows

Kalu vowed that he will stop at nothing in taking the weaknesses of Bende to the floor of the House and also showcasing their strength. “We are a set of hardworking people. It is high time we started showcasing our strength not just crying about things that have not been done well. There are still things that are done well in Bende. There are things we can use to bring many people to come and invest in Bende” he said

The businessman who described himself as a messenger with a message vowed that he will be bold and courageous in his representative duty.

He appealed to the people of Abia not to vote blindly as the 2019 election approaches but to have expectation on whoever they’re voting. He also encouraged them not to sell their votes.

He urged the people of Bende to massively vote for him in the coming election.
