Over 500 people displaced as flood sacks Abia community (Photos)

No fewer that 500 people were on Thursday displaced in Etiti, Ndielu and Amaokai areas of Ugwueke in Bende local government area of Abia state following a persistent downpour.
ABN TV gathered that a lot of houses were submerged as a result of the flood, sacking the people from their ancestral homes.
Speaking with our correspondent on Thursday, the member representing Bende North constituency Abia state House of Assembly Hon. Chijioke Chukwu expressed concern over the plight of his constituents.
He called on the state authorities to quickly intervene through the relevant state agencies especially State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).
The lawmaker also appealed to NEMA for urgent assistance to forestall the outbreak of disease in the affected communities, insisting that level of devastation is huge.
