Marry Abia indigene, get 200k, marry fellow corps member, get 100k - Hon. Chukwu challenges corpers

The member representing Bende North constituency Abia state House of Assembly Hon. Chijioke Chukwu has made a N200,000 pledge to any corps member that marries and indigene of the state and N100,000 to any NYSC member that marries fellow member within the service year, ABN TV reports.
While charging the youth corps members serving in the state to be of good moral behaviour during and after the period of their service year by avoiding cutting corners, involving in drugs and internet fraud, he appealed to them to contribute meaningfully to the development of the state, assuring them that the Okezie Ikpeazu-led administration is committed to ensuring their security and that of all visitors and indigenes of the state.
Speaking after an inter platoon sports and volleyball occasion to mark the end of the orientation exercise for Batch “B” stream 2 for NYSC members in Igbere, Bende Local Government Area of Abia state on Friday, Hon. Chukwu who is also the sponsor of the sporting competition expressed happiness with the peaceful atmosphere he experienced in the orientation camp.
“I’m happy with the peaceful atmosphere I saw right from the gate. This is exactly the vision of the speaker of the Abia state house of assembly, Engr. Chief Chinedum Orji, to make sure that not only youth that comes to Abia state, but every person that comes into Abia state, either for business or as a corp member, feel the same way they person will feel in his or her own state. Abia is a peace loving state.
“The governor is striving day and night to make sure that there is a very friendly atmosphere devoid of crime so that people can move freely in their different fields of endeavor and feel at home. I want to ensure that throughout your service year, you will not witness any security threat. The security operatives in this state are up and doing.”
He insisted that with the peaceful atmosphere in Abia, there is no need for redeployment to neighbouring states.
The lawmaker advised the youths to be focused, and see their service to fatherland as a stepping stone to their success.
In a chat with ABN TV, the NYSC co-ordinator in Abia state, Lady Bona Fashakin said she feels fulfilled being in the state to serve, having been in the West for a long time.
“I feel very happy serving in Abia state, although am from this state, I have been in the west for a very long time. Coming back here, I feel fulfilled and happy. The way I have been welcomed and supported, I feel very good. Am so grateful to the Honorable member, he has made our day today. His presence and words of advice and disposition made us happy. He talks and behaves like a youth, the corpers are motivated. We are grateful to him for leaving all his other engagement to be here with us.”
