Days after Ubakala community lost 4 youths, SARS officers kills another (Graphic Photos)

Ubakala community in Umuahia South local government area of Abia state is currently nursing their protracted grief following the sudden deaths of the youths of the area numbering about 5 under gruesome circumstances.

Speaking with ABN TV on Thursday, the youth president of the community, Comr Nduaguibe Patrick Chiemela said the first three youths to have died in the area lost their lives through a ghastly accident when they had a head-on collision with a moving vehicle.

According to Chiemela, the youths’ ages range between 21 to 30.

Within the same week also, the death of another youth whose identity could not be ascertained as at moment of this report lost his life in a road crash within Ubakala.

This situation our correspondent gathered has put the youths of the area in a sad mood.

The recent death involving a 28-year-old lady whose name was given as Kasarachi Onukwuwe was said to have occurred when a SARS officer pulled his trigger to disperse okada riders who were in a convoy in solidarity with one their members that died during his burial.

The stray bullet according to eyewitness account however hit the lady, a popular street trader in the area.

She was said to have died on the spot.

The situation did not go down well with the already enraged youths of the area as they were said to have attempted to torch the police station in the area but were prevailed by the youth leader and an aide to governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

He assured them that the shooting cop will be identified, arrested and brought to book.

While the community calls for justice, they appeal to the Inspector General of police to order the release of their youths who are still in detention at Ubakala police station, insisting that they are innocent.

The youth leader revealed that normalcy has since returned in the area following the intervention of men of the Nigeria Army.

While the burial of the ones who died in auto crash has commenced, the corpse of the deceased Onukwuwe has since been deposited at the mortuary.
