Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state has given out three Toyota Camry cars to the best primary school teachers in the three senatorial zones of the state to encourage hard work among teachers.
The Governor who handed over the keys of the vehicles to the beneficiaries-Nwogu Augustina, Abia central zone, Uloma Nwosu,Abia South and Ume Jonathan during the 2016 children’s day celebration at the Umuahia township stadium said that primary school occupies an important position in the educational system.
He assured that his government will embark on massive rehabilitation of all primary schools in the state before the end of the year as well as introduce information communication Technology (ICT) in primary schools in the state.
According to him, the measure will help make the students psychologically balanced and ready for public life.
He stated that a total of 120 primary school teachers had already been exposed to a training programme with Australian experts who are currently in the state to impact new techniques in teaching.
The event featured march past by primary and secondary school pupils in the state.
