Print technology was introduced in Nigeria by The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria – the first printed document in Nigeria – a Bible lesson – was printed in Calabar on 21st August, 1846, by a press later known as Hope Waddell Printing Press.
Football was introduced in Nigeria by The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria – football was played for the first time in Nigeria in 1902, at Hope Waddell Training Institution, Calabar.
The first act of the abolition of human sacrifice in Nigeria was facilitated by the Presbyterian witness – human sacrifice was abolished in Calabar on 15th February, 1850 through the intervention of the Presbyterian witness.
Hope Waddell Training Institution, one of Nigeria’s foremost colleges, was founded in Calabar on March 8, 1895
