One of the flagships of Nigeria referees in the international scene, Comrade Abel Baba has been selected to join other nominated Africa FIFA badged referees to take part in the CAF FIFA Referees Elite A course in Cairo, Egypt from Sept 23.
Elite A class is the highest in CAF ranking of FIFA badged referees in the continent. There are various classes beginning with Young Talents to the Elite A Class which is the apogee of the FIFA referees ranking. Remarkably, apart from handling top class CAF organised matches in Africa, the pool of referees in the Elite Class A form the group sent to FIFA for World Cup and other Grade A matches at the World Level.
An outstanding Assistant Referee, AR, Abel Baba fondly called Igwe in referees circle was part of the Nigerian refereeing ambassadors who handled the recent African Nations qualifier between Niger and Burundi a fortnight ago.
He also passed the FIFA fitness and medical tests organised for listing of FIFA referees in Nigeria, organised last weekend at the National Stadium, Abuja. The Nigeria Referees Association, NRA, ably led by Tade Azeez, wishes Abel Baba of the Kogi State Referees Council, a successful outing in Cairo.
