Abia Govt Commends Absiec, Plans To Build 2 Model Schools In Each Senatorial Zone



Abia State Commissioner of Information Comrade Bonnie Iwuoha commended ABSIEC for their preparation concerning the forthcoming Abia State Local Government Election, he also hinted the media of the Government plan to establish 2 Model Schools in the 3 senatorial zones of Abia State.

The Abia State Executive Council has rose from her meeting to commend the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission(ABSIEC) for the level of preparation of the forthcoming Local Government polls.

Briefing journalists after this week’s Executive Council meeting, the Commissioner for Information, Culture & Strategy, Comrade Bonnie Iwuoha assured ABSIEC that the State government will give the body free hands to conduct the election.

The Commissioner disclosed that the Council approved the appointment of an inter-ministerial committee made up of Commissioners for Housing, Works and Lands, d duties were to resolve issues involving rehabilitation of Abia State infrastructures in Enugu and Lagos.

Also approved was the establishment of two model schools each for the three Senatorial Zones of the State.

Comrade Iwuoha further informed that the schools will posses facilities that will stand them out as example of quality schools, adding that they will have staff quarters, laboratories, hostels, games facilities, security among others.

According to the Commissioner, the EXCO approved that the middle of the Enugu-Portharcourt expressway be cleared, from the boundary of Abia and Enugu and that of Abia and Port Harcourt, adding that the Ministry of Agriculture will plant trees in the middle to beautify it.

The Commissioner also conveyed the approval of the EXCO that Land Information Certificate be issued by the Ministry of Lands and Survey, informing that the Ministry has documented all the land in the State
