A frontline governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abia State, Chief Chamberlain Adiaso has inaugurated his campaign team with members drawn from all the 17 local governments areas of the state.
The team which also include women and youth leaders were charged to unite and mobilize grassroots support for Chief Adiaso.
Speaking with Abia Breaking News, the convener of the meeting and governorship hopeful, Chief Chamberlain Adiaso explained that “the meeting was necessary because we need to kick start our campaign programme an then we need to get people who will form the campign team because we’re determined that this present regime has to be changed, so we had to introduce our DG, then appoint local government and women coordinators preparatory to moving to the election proper.”
He charged the team to “go to all the wards and all the booths so I appointed those capable of keying into the idea of Mr President wants us to do in Abia, do the right thing, do a new thing and then let us be prepared to win the elections after the primaries.
The current governor no matter where he comes from has not been doing anything. That’s because he’s under control and he doesn’t have the mindset of his own, he has no ideas of what he wants to do, he has no vision.”
Asked whether the defections from the party to the PDP will not affect it’s chances in 2019, Adiaso said “prominent persons are defecting to the APC, in the next few hours you see see more prominent persons moving from PDP back to APC, key players. I have a list of about 3,4,5 governors who are defecting to the party, so it’s party of politics, it doesn’t matter.”
He promised to develop the state to be at par with fast growing states as Enugu, Anambra and Ebonyi.
“If you go through the south eastern states, you will find out that Abia is the most backward state, salaries are not being paid. I have a sister who works in one of the ministries, for the past 6 months she has not received her salary, so what is it, what are they doing?
This year the allocation coming to the state has increased, unlike the previous years and then you see our infrastructure is (sighs) it’s painful, it’s something that hurts the mind that nothing is happening in Abia. If you go to Ebonyi, Anambra states today you will see what the governors are doing.
So, I intend to change the infrastructural development of Abia state, I intend to make sure that salaries are paid, as and when due, I want to make sure that the internally generated revenue base of Abia is talked about because the State can grow like Lagos where they don’t depend on what they get from the federal.
I want to change the face of Abia. A new Abia is possible, that’s my slogan.
