A chieftain of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Abia state, Amb. Charles Nzechi has vowed that his aim in politics is promote the welfare and development of the people of Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, adding that his dream since childhood has been to make the federal Constituency the beautiful London of Igbo land and Nigeria where the people live a decent living standard.
He made this known in a release made available to Abia Breaking News at the weekend. He said his dream for his people led to the birth of #PASS mantra, People and Society Sake.
“I was born in Umuahia urban, not in the hospital like most people, rather in a church to Umuahia father and mother. As a child I had a dream of making Ikwuano Umuahia the beautiful London of Igboland and Nigeria and the people live in similar conditions that are obtainable in the United Kingdom and other western countries. And that dream has today formed the Foundation of my ambition. This is the birth of the mantra of the movement ” People And Society Sake…….#PASS”. For Charles Nzechi it’s all about the welfare and development of our people and our society.
“For me, it’s about how we will make Umuahia town anyi, the capital of the state not to go to bed by 7pm. Believe me with this kind of structure we will never develop. It’s how to give our children the same opportunity that the children in Lagos state has. We forget that the WAEC they write here is same done by the best of schools in the country. But imagine the studying conditions to prepare for same exams down here”.
He decried the poor state of healthcare in the state which he said moves him to tears. He notes that this is not unconnected with the poor management of the resources meant for the development of the people. “The crux of the matter is that federal government of Nigeria has provided for the welfare and development of the people and society but the managers of our own Ikwuano Umuahia federal constituency resources have not used them for this purpose.
The Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency aspirant called on the people to register and obtain their PVCs for the 2019 election. He also noted that he has taken the PVC campaign to the streets by printing posters to the effect. “In support of the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the government of Abia State, posters have been made and circulated to further assist the government in creating awareness and boosting encouragement for registration of Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs).
“The posters have neither a political party inscription nor personal political office of ambition statement because it’s targeted at all Indigenes and residents of the constituency irrespective of political party affiliation. Same things i have dedicated my time preaching on social media for the past 6months, that i have spent more resources to preach on ground. Politicians , please for a moment do somethings that may not benefit your ambition but would go a along way to helping our society.
“We have suffered enough and we have been shortchanged far to long a time. Let’s do something now.
“I use this opportunity to again encourage you to go this week to get your PVCs and let’s be ready and fullly prepared to vote and elect in good managers our common wealth. The people who will serve and manage our resources for the People And Society Sake” he concluded.
