My head is filled with ideas and solutions to our problems. I have a structured sustainable developmental programme that would not only redirect the fortunes of our constituency but also lay a generational foundation of good governance.
Lagos state which today has become the 5th biggest economy in Africa is my model. I have copied a whole lot from that economic city and some other cities of the world. There are few things these cities have done to get it right which my team have understudied , learned and have copied to bring home to our constituency.
Some of them are the fact that…
1. A city that goes to bed by 7pm will never develope. Lagos, New York, London and Paris have become what they are today because they are 24hour cities. Umuahia the capital of our state goes to quite early.
2. A city that has not built up itself to attract economic visitors and tourists will find it very difficult to develop economically. We may not even know that umuahia enjoys a prominent place in world history map And we’ve done little or nothing to tap into and from this apparent wealth. Umuahia, Former capital of Biafra, Ojukwu bunker, war museum, the Houses of M.I Okpara, Gen Aguiyi, umuahia train station- nwakpuda story and Abraham Tonica has capacity to bring in tourists with a team with knowledge in that sector. And we sure do.
3. The longest road link east of the Niger is Enugu- Port Harcourt express road cutting through umuahia North and umuahia south. A team of consultants sent to give us a study revealed a record of an average of 18 thousand vehicular movement every 24hours(times it by 365days of the year). Our constituency is economically beautifully positioned in the middle of it and we make nothing from the huge economic privilege. Same as the site of ikwuano enroute all vehicles to cross-River and Akwaibom states and beyond.
Believe me i have a plan and programme of economic development for our constituency. Please give me a chance. I simply want to serve.
Amb Charles Nzechi
