Uphold professionalism, objectivity in your reportage, ABN TV boss charges journalists

The CEO/Editor-in-chief ABN TV and Abia Breaking News, Mr. Ifeanyi Okali has charged media practitioners to always play by the rule in performing their constitutional duties, saying journalists have a duty in uniting the nation.
He made this call on Friday while receiving the award of Grassroot Oriented Online Media Platform of the year 2018 organised by Abia State government. “The media is a very important stakeholder in any democratic institution in the world. We must shun unprofessional and unethical conducts at all times. We have a constitutional duty of using our platforms to strengthen the unity of the country and peaceful co-existence of our people.
Whatever we put out goes a long way in shaping people’s opinion. Both online and conventional media practitioners must live above board, ensure accuracy, objectivity and always put all sides of the news into equation before publishing” he said.
Mr. Okali who doubles as the Editor-in-chief Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OMPAN) also urged members to shun partisanship especially at this time of political activities.
He thanked the Abia State government for the recognition and pledged his commitment to ensuring that the people at the grassroot are given a platform that would amplify their voices as it affects their welfare and development.
