A popular Disc Jockey (DJ), Seun Omogaji aka djxgee, who committed suicide by taking Sniper on Wednesday, has been buried.
Omogaji, who took his life about six hours after he posted a suicide note on Instagram, was buried yesterday at Ikoyi Cemetery about 10a.m. in the presence of friends and family members.
The deceased was survived by his wife and two children and aged mother.
Immediately his body was interred, families and friends wept uncontrollably and asked why he killed himself.
The officiating Islamic cleric, Alhaji Ismaila Adebayo, consoled the family members and enjoined them to see the incident as an act of God.
He prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased and urged everyone to put his or her trust in God. According to him, killing oneself is not the solution to one’s problem.
In Omogaji’s suicide note, he apologised to his children and mum but did not state the reason for his action.
The DJ said he deliberately wore white in the photos he attached to his suicide note instead of black because white was his favourite colour. It was learnt that Omogaji had been having marital issues lately and that could be the reason for his decision to kill himself.
“My Mum should forgive me for my action; it was a deliberate act,” he wrote.
Omogaji also called on his younger siblings to forgive him because he had to do what he did.
An ace comedian, Bright Okpocha aka Basketmouth said “together we created some amazing memories”.
He said: “The Nigeria entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning in the second day of the New Year when one of us died. I pray God to take care of the family he left behind.”
One of the mourners, who gave his name simply as Buhari, said Omogaji had been battling depression for long but finally decided to take his own life.
He said: “I never knew that such an incident would happen to him. I shook his hand on Tuesday January 1, greeting him ‘Happy New Year.’ He smiled at my kids and we went our separate ways.
“Unfortunately, the next day I received a phone call from a friend that he had committed suicide. I felt bad when I heard of the incident.”
