INEC as an umpire is and should be the pillar of success of every election within our polity.
INEC should be seen as an unbiased umpire and who ever they are appointing to head sensitive positions that will affect the outcome of the election must be some one with an unblemished and non partisan reputation.
The inclusion of Chief Philip Nto a well known practicing politician, a former Commissioner for finance In Abia state and a PDP chieftain as collation or returning officer for for the upcoming general election compromises the entire electioneering process even before the actual balloting.
If INEC wants to maintain neutrality in the coming elections the names of the likes of Chief Philip Nto should be removed from their list unless INEC wants to tell Abians that they have once more sold the election to the highest bidder as it has always been their practice.
I urge all concerned the civil societies, national and international election observers, the international community, election monitors and other bodies saddled with the responsibility of ensuring a free, fair and credible election to please intervene immediately and make sure that the will of the masses is not subdued.
