The 17 Local Government chairmen of the Social Democratic Party have said the suspension of the state chairman of the party in Abia state, Hon. Chidi Nwosu still stands.
The body led by Chief Chijioke Ozems stated on Monday that Nwosu was sacked over alleged anti party activities.
He announced that the body which is a part of the state working committee of the party has appointed Mr. Chukwudi Abengowe as the chairman of a care taker committee to pilot the affairs of party in the interim, while Hon. Chidim Philips will serve as the secretary of committee.
Speaking shortly after his appointment Abengowe who was the former organizing secretary of the party said his appointment was for the general interest of the members of the party across the state.
He pointed out that the affairs of the party will no longer be like family affairs again.
He congratulated the Governor Okezie Ikpeazu on his victory at the just concluded Governorship election in the state.
He stated that the party had adopted the Ikpeazu in run up to the election because it thought it wise that he should complete his second term in office.
He insisted that the party will however serve as a watch dog to the Ikpeazu’s government and criticize his policies where necessary.
Abengowe also called on the candidates of opposition political parties in the state to accept the result of the election and join hands with the Governor to move the state forward, rather than dragging the state through litigations.
