The members of Presbyterian Church Nigeria in Umuahia on Wednesday marked the remembrance of the establishment of the church in Nigeria through a foreign missionary, Hope Waddell in Calabar.
Speaking with ABN TV on Wednesday, the Reverend in Charge, PCN, Solid rock Parish, Rev. Emmanuel Kalu Ogbonnaya said that April 10, 1846 marked the commencement of Presbyterian mission work in Nigeria through the Church of Scotland Mission.
He used the opportunity to charge members of the body of Christ to always preach the truth which they have received and embraced.
The clergy described Presbyterian church as a peculiar, reformed church that takes the Bible not on the face value but together with God’s sovereignty.
He said the faith of the church is rooted in the belief on what the Bible says about God, that God is Supreme over every other thing.
Rev. Ogbonnaya said the church has been at the forefront of preaching the truth which it believes should be heard and accepted by every individual.
He however added that more needs to be done to spread the word of God.
He urged members of the church to be bold and courageous in line with its theme for the year to preach the truth and faith they already know.
