An Abia born shotput medalist, Kalu Eke Onwuka has expressed dissatisfaction over the inability of the state government to give him the needed support despite winning medals for the state.
Onwuka, popularly known as Scorpion in a chat with ABN TV on Saturday said he represented Abia in Eko 2012 where he picked a silver medal.
He added that he has been representing and winning medals for the state since then but expressed disappointment that not much has been done by the state government to support him.
“Sometimes I use to travel within and outside the state and use my money to pay transportation fare, feed myself and pay for my accommodation. At the end of the day, the money is not refunded to me” he said.
The Ohafia born staff of Abia state Sports Council who has represented Nigeria in several international games where he emerged the forth and Africa and first in Nigeria, including African championship 2018 appealed to the Federal and state government to support him in his sporting career.
