The member representing Bende North constituency in Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Chijioke Chukwu has visited a 21-year-old rape victim who was allegedly gang raped by a group of boys numbering about eight on 15th July, 2019 in Amaokoro community, Bende local government area of Abia State ABN TV reports.
The lawmaker during the visit made an announcement of a scholarship award covering tuition, books and other study materials to enable the victim complete her secondary education.
ABN TV gathered that Hon. Chukwu who was at the hospital where the victim is currently battling with health complications expressed sadness over the incident, insisting that the accused persons must be brought to justice.
“We are going to get to root of this matter. The senator representing Abia north federal constituency, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is aware of this matter, Hon. Benjamin Kalu has also been briefed. They both said the perpetrators of the act will face the law” he assured.
He also stated that he will foot the medical bills of the victim including legal fees for prosecution of the case to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book.
The victim was allegedly raped by a group of eight boys led by an okada operator whose name was given as Okorie Nomoreless.
