Widespread flooding has taken over the house of a former governor of Abia State, who is now the Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Uzor Kalu, in Abuja, the nation’s capital, following a heavy downpour that lasted for several hours on Monday.
ABN TV gathered that the rain, which started as early as 6:30am on Monday, wreaked havoc across the city as many houses and roads were submerged in the water body.
Interacting with ABN TV on Monday, the Senate Chief Whip said: “Flood has taken over my house in Abuja”.
ABN TV learnt that commercial activities were also grounded to a halt in some parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
While some roads were impassable due to the gridlock, many residents were said to have been rendered homeless as a result of the magnitude of the flood.
