The Ukwa West local government area, Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has frowned at the nomination of Nwogu Nwogu as the Abia State representative on the newly reconstituted 16 member board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
President Muhammadu Buhari had, in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary (General Services Office) office of the Secretary to the Government of the federation, Olusegun Adekunle on behalf of the SGF, approved a 16-man new board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, with Dr. Pius Odubu from Edo State as the chairman and Nwogu Nwogu as Abia State representative on the board.
In a petition to President Muhammadu Buhari, signed by the party Chairman, Chief Allwell Enwereji and Secretary, Ihuoma Dike, the party appealed to Mr President to remove the name of Nwogu and replace him with a true and committed member of the party from Ukwa West local government area.
The party alleged that Nwogu and his benefactor, High Chief Ikechi Emenike factionalised the party in Ukwa West. The petition reads in part, ” the factionalisation of APC in Ukwa West was orchestrated by Nwogu and his benefactor, High Chief Ikechi Emenike. It is an indisputable fact that Nwogu is a stooge of Emenike, who has allowed his desire to become the governor of Abia State to consume his sense of respect for constituted authorities.
” It becomes pertinent at this point, Your Excellency, to state that the indefatigable National Chairman of the party, Chief Adams Oshiomhole at the Umuahia Township stadium, publicly disowned Emenike having observed his sinister motives against the party.
“We foresee an unending crisis in Abia APC if this appointment is allowed to stay”.
The chapter stated that the reappointment of Nwogu into the board of the NDDC would only lead to the decimation of the party in Ukwa West and weakening of the party structure at the state level, stressing that it would be very disheartening and discouraging to faithful members of the party to watch someone who worked actively with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the last general elections, to be rewarded with a federal appointment.
