There are discordant tunes in the rank and file of Nigerian champions, Enyimba International, as some key players have threatened to leave the club over unresolved issues with the management.
A former player of the club who is privy to happenings at the eighth time Nigerian champions revealed to our correspondent that all was not well with the club after their unceremonious exit from the CAF Champions League.
The player, who parted company with the two times African Champions League winners noted that some of the key players have threatened dumping the club with their eyes set on other bigger clubs or even Europe, explaining that issues of bonuses could be adduced for the players’ grumblings.
“I was told by someone at the club that the players, particularly the bigger ones are not happy because some of their entitlements for their continental participation have not been paid.
“I was told that the state government is yet to make money available and was targeting the club to get to at least the group stage of the Champions League, before which, it would stabilize to pay them their dues.
“That decision, one of the players told me, did not go down well with the senior players, who have vowed to dump the club,” said the former player of the club, who craved anonymity. Enyimba were eliminated from the CAF Champions League by Sudanese side, Al Hilal.
