A chieftain of APC in Abia state, Chief Anyim Chinenye Nyerere has expressed sadness over the loss of Abia South Senatorial District to the ruling party in the state, the PDP.

He also said the incumbent Senator, Enyinnaya Abaribe has performed below expectation to deserve another term at the upper legislative chamber.

He made this known on Thursday in a chat with ABN TV in Abuja.

The former governorship candidate of APC said he won the 2018 primary election conducted by his party to contest the Senatorial district’s election but expressed surprise that Chief Marc Wabara whom he said came second in the election eventually flied the party’s flag.

While attributing the sudden exchange of his name with that of Marc Wabara to desperation and gang up, he insisted that if he had flied the party’s flag at the general election, he would have dislodged and send Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe to political oblivion.

He also expressed gratitude to God for giving him victory at both the federal High Court Umuahia, Appeal and eventually Supreme Court as the duly elected candidate of the party for the 2019 election in Abia South after the election was conducted.

We had the APC primary election in 2018 and I was the candidate of the party, I won the primary election and there was no dispute about it. I completed all the necessary forms and APC gave me a certificate of return.

“On October 18, while I was in the village, the day the final list was supposed to be approved, to my amazement and utter disbelief, they said it’s Marc Wabara’s name that was presented and published” he said.

The former vice chairman, APC also added, “I went to court. It may not have been my wish to do that. Federal High Court Umuahia gave judgement in my favour but of course, before then the election has been held. APC performed abysmally poor because you can’t give what you don’t have.

“Marc Wabara went to Appeal Court to challenge that victory, they struck his matter out. He was not satisfied and did not see any reason why he should not have continued, he went to Supreme Court.

“On October 21 this year, the Supreme Court saw his action as political stupidity because he doesn’t have any reason for that. Again, the reaffirmed my candidacy for APC Abia South” he said.

While describing Marc Wabara as an impersonator and deceiver, Nyerere said those who were unhappy with his victory at the primary election orchestrated the gang up that later denied him the general election contest.
