Police have arrested two people after a stray bullet hit and injured a 4-year-old Thursday morning in her DeKalb County apartment complex.
Several residents told Channel 2’s Kristen Holloway that they woke to gunfire at Eastwyck Village Apartments on Candler Road.
“All of sudden, I see a flash and I hear the shots, and it sounded like a fully automatic weapon. Soon as I heard the shots, I hit the ground,” one neighbor said.
Police said two groups were outside shooting at each other in the complex and a stray bullet hit the 4-year-old in her foot.
“As a parent, that’s devastating. The initial reaction is to let me check on my children, make sure my house is OK,” another neighbor said.
Holloway said there was a large police presence in front of the complex for about four hours on Thursday.
Investigators found shell casings from a handgun and a rifle. Officers believe the shooting stemmed from some kind of dispute.
