The Honourable Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed, has expressed her delight over the appointment of Dr. Sarah Alade.
Speaking about Dr Alade whose appointment by President Mohammadu Buhari was made public yesterday, Ahmed said: “It is gratifying to receive the news about the appointment of Dr. Sarah Alade by President Muhammadu Buhari, Commander- in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, as Special Adviser on Finance and Economy. Since it is to be domiciled in the Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning, this is a very welcoming news for me and my entire team as we look forward to working with Dr. Alade, a brilliant and accomplished economist and scholar.”
A release signed by the Special Adviser, Media and Communication to the Honourable Minister of Finance Budget and National Planning, Yunusa Tanko Abdullahi made available to ABN TV indicates that Dr. Alade holds degrees in Economics and also P.hd in Management Science.
She was also a senior management staff at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) where she held various positions including Deputy Governor Economic Policy, Director Banking Operations, Chairman Board of Directors, Nigeria Interbank Settlement System (NIBSS). She was also Acting Governor of CBN.
“Dr. Alade is obviously coming into her new role with a vast experience in finance and economy. Considering her rich experience and exposure, I am particularly delighted and wish to express my profound gratitude to President Buhari for his foresight and diligence in selecting and picking our best brains as we strive to get our economy working again,” Ahmed said.
Speaking further, S. Ahmed said: “I am passionate about the values and energy Dr. Alade is bringing into the team. Her vision and dedication, thoroughness, finance, economy and the management acumen is inspiring and heart warming. I believe Dr. Alade will find the Ministry of Finance Budget and National Planning truly a home.”
