ABIRIBA COMMUNITY TO SANCTION INDIAN HEMP SELLERS AS ITU EYE FESTIVAL BEGINS (Photos)

Abiriba community in Ohafia local government area of Abia state has at this year’s Itu Eye festival has among other resolutions outlawed the sell and smoke of Indian hemp as part of the rules to guide the community in the next one year and beyond. Also, all identified Indian hemp shops are to be shutdown courtesy of this new law.

In an interview with Abia Breaking News, the traditional ruler of the Ancient Kingdom of Abiriba, the Enachioken of Abiriba, HRM Eze Kalu Kalu Ogbu said the festival marks the beginning of the new year in Abiriba calendar and marks the end of the farming season.

According to the royal father, the festival is a time the Enachioken of Abiriba as the symbol of authority of the kingdom makes appearance to the people of Abiriba to announce rules that will guide the people in the next one year and beyond. He also stated that the rules are not initiated by the Enachioken of Abiriba but unanimously reached by the people.

This festival which is underway usually comes up every July and reunites sons and daughters of the community from far and wide.
